Author Dr. Mabel Jones Matthews returns to her beloved home church—Greenwood Baptist—to share her story once more, this time through the powerful lens of her new book, Hearing God’s Whispers: Testimonies of Hope, Healing, Obedience, and Spiritual Clarity. In this heartfelt homecoming, Dr. Matthews honors the foundation that shaped her journey—Greenwood Baptist Church and the Warren County School System—both of which nurtured her faith, courage, and commitment to service. These early experiences formed her identity as a Social Justice Christian—a woman led by faith to champion fairness, equality, and opportunity, particularly in education and civil rights.
The gathering featured a lively book review, discussion, and Q&A session, offering attendees an opportunity to reflect on the spiritual insights and personal testimonies shared within Hearing God’s Whispers.
